Piano Lessons in Bristol

Bristol Piano Lessons provides structured piano tuition for students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced players.

In-Person and Online

Lessons are available both in person and online, and are planned according to each student’s goals—whether preparing for exams or learning for personal interest.

Exam Preparation

ABRSM & Trinity Piano Exam Preparation

All key components of the exam syllabus are covered, including set pieces, scales, sight-reading, and aural work.

A structured and supportive approach ensures students develop not just the ability to perform, but also a clear understanding of the material. The aim is to build confidence, accuracy, and musical awareness at every level.

Practice Guide

Consistent daily practice is essential for students preparing for graded exams. A minimum of 20 minutes per day is recommended, with longer sessions for higher grades or those aiming for Merit or Distinction.

Guidance on how to practise effectively is provided on the Practice Guide page.

Music Theory

Music theory supports reading, memory, and overall musical understanding. It also forms a required part of the ABRSM exam pathway.

A pass in Grade 5 Theory is needed before taking ABRSM Grade 6 or above. Lessons are available to prepare students for this requirement and beyond.

Online Piano Lessons

Online lessons follow the same structured format as in-person lessons and are suitable for students with a reliable setup at home.

This option is ideal for learners outside the Bristol area or those seeking greater flexibility. Full details are available on the Online Piano Lessons page.

Playing for Enjoyment

Students learning without the intention of taking exams are encouraged to practise regularly, but without strict targets. Lessons focus on fluency, musical development, and building a long-term relationship with the instrument.
